HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN? PDF Print

How long has it been since you shared your faith in Jesus?

According Alvin Reid of the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, “Lost people are more amazed at our silence than offended by our message!”  And here we were afraid of what others may have thought if we did share.

Below are some reminders that Brother Reid shares to help Christians alleviate their fears – and become more intentional in their witness:

1. Think less of presentation and more of conversation. – Make your faith apart of your everyday speech.

2. Connect the story (gospel) to their everyday life experiences. – Joys, pain, passions, etc.

3. Start in their world view not yours. – Where are they when it comes to biblical knowledge?  Unfortunately statistics show that people know less about the Bible today than they did twenty five years ago.
Begin with their beliefs or ideas, and move toward Jesus!

4. Don’t just invite them to church – invite them into your lives and your community. – Connect!  Look for common ground to grow a relationship upon.

All around us our communities are filled with those who are spiritually hungry.  We live in a mission field and life is a mission trip – start sharing today!

“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.’”
Matthew 9:37-38 (ESV)
