RESTORE ME PDF Print

“Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.”
Psalms 51:12 (ESV)

Notice what the psalmist prays for in the midst of his broken relationship with his Heavenly Father; restoration and a willing spirit!

Contemplating on the meaning of this prayer and what lies behind the language leads one to conclude that as the writer’s priorities shifted, his service drifted.  Not only did he sin but he became unwilling or simply lost all motivation to serve His as a result of that sin.

Perhaps there is presently an interruption in your relationship with your Savior?  Because of this, maybe you too have lost the motivation for working in the soul-harvest that surrounds you every day?

If so, may you do as the psalmist did . . . seek restoration.

“Restore me,” he pleaded.  Create something new within me, became his fervent prayer.

May his long ago cry for help become ours today . . . to love our labor, to serve our Savior!

Have you decided to follow Jesus?
